To All Concerned,

We respectfully submit our application for a category 2 USSMA sanctioned race to be held at Black Mountain of Maine . We will agree to meet the expectations USSMA has for its sanctioned races as outlined on their website.

The race is jointly sponsored by The Angry Beavers, the cutters of the back country glades and the Chisholm Ski Club, the nations oldest ski club. Over the last 100 years, the Chisholm Ski Club has been instrumental in getting young people of Maine out skiing and we are proud of the success many have seen at the National and Olympic levels The Red Coats of Chisholm Ski Club have hosted significant events from the 1950 World Cross Country Championships to more recently the U.S. Cross Country Championships in 2003, 2004, 2011 and 2012.

Black Mountain's Skimo race will follow the same climb for 4 laps, with each lap 1,350' and 1.3 miles in length for 5,400 feet in elevation gain over 5.2 miles of climbing. The climb, conditions permitting, will be on a backcountry trail, the Saco and the descents will highlight the Angry Beaver Glades.

Youth skiing has always been a strong emphasis of the Chisholm Ski Club and I the race director will work to encourage young people to participate in the Black Mid-Winter Skimo Classic.

We will also hold a non-sanctioned recreational race of 1 or 2 laps on February 10, 2018.

Black Mountain of Maine is a 501c(3) non-profit community ski resort.

All monies raised from the event will go to the Chisholm Ski Club for junior alpine and nordic racing sponsored by the club.
